On this episode of The E6:12 Show, Jeff Burke joined the conversation to share his story, his heart for helping people, and the lessons he has learned over nearly 28 years in real estate.

Jeff is a real estate broker with Jeff Burke and Associates brokered by eXp Realty, serving the Greater Lansing and Grand Rapids areas. Before real estate, Jeff worked as a respiratory therapist. While the career path may seem very different, the heart behind both has always been the same: helping people through important moments in their lives.

Jeff’s path into real estate started during his own first home-buying experience. He asked an agent whether a home was worth the asking price and felt like he did not get the clarity he needed. Later, he realized the agent was representing the seller, not him as the buyer. That experience opened his eyes to how much buyers and sellers need real education during the process.

That lesson became a major part of how Jeff runs his business today. He believes in keeping professionalism in the profession and making sure clients understand what is happening every step of the way. He also pours that same knowledge into his team of nine licensed agents, focusing on training, mentorship, and doing business the right way.

During the episode, Jeff shared practical advice for sellers. His first tip was simple: curb appeal matters. When buyers pull up to a home, they are already forming an opinion. Landscaping, paint, exterior condition, and first impressions all play a role.

“Real estate is about more than buying and selling homes. It’s about education, integrity, service, and helping people make wise decisions.”

He also talked about interior presentation. Clean carpets, fresh paint, patched walls, and small touch-ups can make a home feel more cared for and market-ready. As Jeff explained, living in a home and preparing it for the market are two very different things.

Pricing was another major point. Jeff explained that even pricing a home a little too high can cost sellers later. If a home sits on the market too long, buyers may start wondering what is wrong with it. A strong pricing strategy helps create momentum, attract more attention, and avoid becoming stale inventory.

For buyers, Jeff emphasized preparation. That means saving for a down payment, understanding closing costs, cleaning up credit, and getting pre-approved before shopping. He also encouraged buyers to stay within their true comfort zone, not just the maximum amount a lender says they can afford.

Beyond real estate, Jeff also shared how he balances business, family, and faith. He talked about the importance of calendar management, putting family events and vacations on the calendar first, and building the business around what matters most. He also shared how starting his day with prayer and devotion helps guide the way he leads, serves, and works with others.

Jeff’s story is about more than buying and selling homes. It is about education, integrity, service, and helping people make wise decisions during some of life’s biggest transitions.
